Things improve somehow

Today responded to yesterdays misery. Great cycling, fair weather. Rose held together for all her aches, to carry me 117km from where I woke amongst rain wetted grass. I had my fair share of showers this morning. The wind must have had some other cyclists to torment, for while it was ever present, and never in my favor, it didn’t worry and frustrate my as much.
Long straight rural roads, inland, I can find a good cadence. Long lunch after a longer search for a good spot. A lemon sorbet makes my lips tingle and cheeks pucker. From St Giles sur Mer I discover a cycle path along the coast, that proves to be one of the nicest stretches of biking yet.  It wanders through dunes and pine forests. Each coastal town seems to be a horrid parade of modern apartments, but in between, are trees and cliffs and fields of salt lagoons to harvest. I cycle late into the evening, i need to, to find food and a place to sleep, but its fine and I am happy to be outside. The wind has weakened enough that I feel some warmth from the orange evening light. I know that tonight I will sleep in earshot of the waves. Its different and better than the sea in Holland. Here it is more lively, jagged waves and rocks.
I make rissoto in sight of a crumbling left hand break framed between cliff trees. I can’t wait to see my view at dawn, and to have my breakfast watching waves.
