Today, my 11th day of cycling ends early. I don’t want a repeat of last nights late campsite hunt in the night cold. The frantic search for a site even invaded my dreams. I made an early start to beat the dog walkers who might stumble upon my tent, and am now really\u00a0 tired. But once I got going I had a great day, cows chased me along the track, wanting some of the bread I had just bought form the best bakery in the oldest town of Huesden. Chandelier over breadrolls, old telephones amongst cakes. New supplies, a full wineskin now, extra weight of lentil cans and more apples for porridge. My 10th day of riding was a good one too. Leaving Amsterdam was amazingly painless, along the Amstel, I was soon in countryside again. Long Canal paths and tree corridors. If Caroline were here we could cycle beside each other holding hands interminabley. Lunch field sun bathe. Ferrys across several rivers. Hands turning browner. There is a pain in my arm from the 120km traveled.
\nThis is my last night in Holland, and there is an audible whine from a cloud of mosquitos overhead. Jolt myself on an electric fence that guards my campsite. aside from the shock, it makes my campsite feel safer from the others.<\/p>\n
